Please read these Terms before purchasing or using a Journey to Grandmaster product. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
Summary of Key Terms
✓One-Time Purchase + Lifetime Access (Blueprints & Courses) - The 1000 ELO Complete Blueprint, From 1000 to 1500 ELO Complete Blueprint, Opening Mastery (available as the White Repertoire only, the Black Repertoire only, or the complete course), Calculation Course, and Endgame Mastery are sold as one-time purchases with lifetime access to the purchased program content, subject to a minimum 5-year availability guarantee from the purchase date.
✓Optional Academy Subscription Offers - Certain eligible purchases may include the option to activate Academy live coaching on promotional terms shown on the relevant checkout, upsell, or sales page. Offers may include a free first month, a free 7-day trial, or other promotional access terms. After the applicable promotional period, Academy continues on the subscription basis shown at checkout unless canceled before the next renewal.
✓Cancel Anytime (Academy) - You can cancel an Academy subscription anytime using the cancellation function available on the website or by emailing support@journeytograndmaster.com. Cancellation stops future renewals. Access continues until the end of the current billing period or promotional period already started.
✓Academy Subscription Charges Are Non-Refundable Once Started - Except where mandatory law requires otherwise, Academy subscription payments are non-refundable once the paid billing period has started. No partial, prorated, or unused-time refunds are provided for the current billing period after it has started.
✓Statutory Consumer Withdrawal Rights - If mandatory consumer law gives you a right to withdraw, cancel, or receive a refund, nothing in these Terms limits that right. Details are in Section 4.
✓Voluntary 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee (Courses) - In addition to any mandatory legal rights, certain paid courses and programs include a voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee. Details are in Section 5.
✓Opening Mastery Refund Requirement - To qualify for the voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee for Opening Mastery (in any form: White only, Black only, or the complete course), you must email us within 14 days of purchase, work through the first modules, and attend at least one live group lesson or live call made available as part of the Opening Mastery offer during your first 14 days. If no such live lesson or live call is made available to you during your first 14 days, the live-call requirement does not apply. Details are in Section 5.2.
✓Calculation Course Community Support - The Calculation Course includes community support as described on the relevant sales or checkout page. This is separate from Academy.
✓Academy = Priority Support - Academy includes live coaching features while active, including priority support. Academy support is separate from any course-specific support included with a one-time purchase.
✓Calculation Course: 30-Day Win Your Money Back Challenge - In addition to the voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee, the Calculation Course may include a separate 30-Day Win Your Money Back Challenge. Eligible customers who complete the challenge earn the full purchase amount back as credit toward a future Journey to Grandmaster training. Details are in Section 5.3.
✓Endgame Mastery Support and 45-Day Challenge - Endgame Mastery includes access to its channel in the existing Journey to Grandmaster community, as described on the relevant sales or checkout page. It may also include the separate 45-Day Win Your Money Back Challenge. Eligible customers who complete the Challenge earn the Endgame Mastery amount paid back as a single-use credit toward eligible future Journey to Grandmaster training. It is not a cash refund. Details are in Section 5.4.
✓PGN File Add-On - The PGN file add-on, available as White only, Black only, or the complete set, is digital content made available after purchase. It does not include the voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee. Any statutory rights remain subject to applicable mandatory law and the digital-content rules described in Section 4.
✓Academy 1-on-1 Lesson Bonus - Certain Academy signup offers may include one complimentary 1-on-1 lesson. Eligibility, timing, and booking rules depend on the specific offer shown on the relevant checkout or upsell page. For the Opening Mastery, Calculation Course, and Endgame Mastery Academy offers, the complimentary 1-on-1 lesson is available in the first paid month of Academy and is not provided during the free trial period. It therefore requires continuing as a paid Academy member after the trial and is not provided to customers who cancel before the first paid month begins.
✓Promotional Live Workshop (Bonus) - Certain promotional offers may include a one-time live workshop and a recording, as described on the relevant offer page. Availability, date, timing, and access are limited to the specific promotional offer and may not be available outside it.
✓Free Resources and Emails - Free-resource signup forms explain what emails follow. Where consent is required, it is collected at signup. You can unsubscribe anytime.
✓No Account Sharing - Unauthorized sharing of course, community, or Academy access may lead to suspension or termination without refund, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.
1. General Terms
These Terms apply to all products and services offered by Journey to Grandmaster, including:
- 1000 ELO Complete Blueprint (one-time purchase)
- From 1000 to 1500 ELO Complete Blueprint (one-time purchase)
- Opening Mastery (one-time purchase, available as White Repertoire only, Black Repertoire only, or the complete course)
- Calculation Course (one-time purchase)
- Endgame Mastery (one-time purchase)
- PGN file add-on (digital add-on, available as White only, Black only, or the complete set)
- Academy Live Coaching (optional subscription)
- Opening Kit (free resource)
- Other free resources we may offer from time to time
By using this website, creating an account, purchasing any product, activating a subscription, or accessing any paid or free resource, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.
If a specific sales page, checkout page, or written offer includes additional terms for a particular product or promotion, those product-specific terms also apply. If there is a conflict between these Terms and a product-specific offer, the more specific terms apply to that product or promotion, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
2. One-Time Purchase Programs
2.1 Included Products
One-time purchase programs include:
- 1000 ELO Complete Blueprint
- From 1000 to 1500 ELO Complete Blueprint
- Opening Mastery (White Repertoire only, Black Repertoire only, or the complete course)
- Calculation Course
- Endgame Mastery
Where Opening Mastery is purchased as a single side (White only or Black only), the purchase covers that side of the repertoire. A separate purchase or an offered add-on may be required to obtain the other side or the complete course.
2.2 Access & Lifetime Policy
One-time purchases include “lifetime access” to the purchased program content.
Lifetime access guarantee: We guarantee at least 5 years of availability from your purchase date. Continued access may remain available beyond 5 years as long as the platform remains operational.
2.3 Course-Specific Support Features
Certain one-time purchase programs may include support, community, live calls, or bonus features if expressly stated on the relevant sales page, checkout page, or post-purchase page.
Calculation Course: Calculation Course includes community support as described on the relevant sales or checkout page. This course-specific community support is separate from Academy and does not by itself start an Academy subscription.
Endgame Mastery: Endgame Mastery includes access to its channel inside the existing Journey to Grandmaster community as described on the relevant sales or checkout page. This support is intended for reasonable course questions, clarification, progress, and brief feedback where useful. It does not promise weekly personal game analysis, unlimited private coaching, or a detailed response to every game. This course-specific support is separate from Academy and does not by itself start an Academy subscription.
Promotional bonuses: Certain promotional offers for one-time purchase programs may also include a one-time live workshop and a recording, as described on the relevant offer page. Such bonuses are limited to the specific promotional offer, are not part of the standing product, and do not extend the lifetime-access guarantee or any refund right beyond what these Terms provide.
2.4 Optional Academy Promotional Offers
Certain eligible purchases may include the option to activate Academy live coaching on promotional terms shown on the relevant checkout or upsell page.
Optional activation: If you do not activate Academy, no Academy subscription is started.
Promotional terms vary by offer: Eligible offers may include a free first month, a free 7-day trial, or other promotional access terms as stated on the relevant page.
Continuation after promotional period: Unless otherwise stated on the relevant offer page, Academy continues on the subscription basis shown at checkout unless canceled before the next renewal.
2.5 Immediate Access / Digital Supply
Many Journey to Grandmaster products are digital products that may be made available shortly after purchase, including online course content, videos, downloadable materials, PGN files, community materials, and recordings.
For consumers with statutory withdrawal rights, immediate access may affect the right of withdrawal only to the extent permitted by applicable mandatory law and subject to the requirements in Section 4.
3. Academy Live Coaching (Optional Subscription)
3.1 What Academy Includes
Academy may include live lessons, live coaching calls, lesson replays/recordings, community access, and priority support while your Academy subscription is active.
The exact features, billing interval, price, trial period, promotional period, and bonuses may vary by offer and are shown on the relevant checkout, upsell, or sales page.
3.2 Academy Subscription Terms
Academy may be offered on a monthly or annual subscription basis. The applicable billing interval, renewal terms, price, and any promotional terms are shown on the relevant checkout or upsell page.
By activating Academy, you authorize recurring billing according to the terms shown at checkout, unless and until you cancel before the next renewal.
3.3 Renewal & Cancellation
You can cancel an Academy subscription anytime using the cancellation function available on the website or by emailing support@journeytograndmaster.com.
Cancellation stops future renewals. Cancellation does not automatically refund the current billing period. Access continues until the end of the current billing period or promotional period already started.
If you cancel during a free trial or free month, your access continues until the end of that promotional period and you will not be charged for the next billing cycle, unless the relevant offer page clearly states otherwise.
3.4 Academy Subscription Charges Are Non-Refundable Once Started
Except where mandatory law requires otherwise, Academy subscription payments are non-refundable once the paid billing period has started.
This means that if a paid Academy billing period has already started, you are not entitled to a refund, partial refund, prorated refund, or unused-time refund for that current billing period, even if you cancel during that period or do not attend live lessons.
Cancellation only stops future renewals. You will continue to have access to Academy features until the end of the already-paid billing period, unless your access is suspended or terminated for breach of these Terms.
The voluntary course money-back guarantees in Section 5 do not apply to Academy subscription charges unless a specific Academy offer clearly states otherwise in writing.
Nothing in this Section limits any mandatory statutory withdrawal, cancellation, refund, or consumer rights that may apply.
3.5 Academy Access vs. Course Access
Canceling Academy ends access to Academy-only features at the end of your current billing period, including live lessons, new lesson replays/recordings made available through Academy, and Academy priority support.
Canceling Academy does not remove your separately purchased one-time course access.
Any course-specific support or community feature included with a one-time purchase remains governed by the terms of that course offer, unless the relevant page clearly states that the feature is Academy-only.
3.6 Promotional 1-on-1 Lesson Offers
Certain Academy signup offers may include one complimentary 1-on-1 lesson, subject to the specific promotional terms shown on the relevant checkout, upsell, or sales page.
Opening Mastery, Calculation Course, and Endgame Mastery Academy offers: The complimentary 1-on-1 lesson is available in the first paid month of Academy and is not provided during the free trial period. It therefore requires continuing as a paid Academy member after the trial, and is not provided to a customer who cancels before the first paid month begins.
Scheduling: Any complimentary 1-on-1 lesson is scheduled based on availability. Booking instructions are provided to eligible customers, and the earliest available slot may fall after the free trial period has ended.
Limit: Unless otherwise stated, complimentary 1-on-1 lesson offers are limited to one per eligible customer or subscription account for the relevant promotional offer.
Effect of using the lesson: The complimentary 1-on-1 lesson is a benefit of the first paid Academy month. Once the lesson has been delivered, the paid Academy month in which it was provided is treated as substantially used and is non-refundable, except where mandatory law requires otherwise. Where a statutory withdrawal right applies, Section 4 governs, and any refund may be reduced by the value of services already provided where permitted by applicable mandatory law.
4. Statutory Consumer Withdrawal Rights
4.1 Mandatory Rights Not Limited
If you are a consumer, any mandatory statutory withdrawal, cancellation, refund, or consumer protection rights that apply to your purchase remain unaffected by these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, limits, or replaces mandatory legal rights that cannot be excluded or limited by contract.
The voluntary refund policies in Section 5 are additional contractual guarantees. They do not replace, reduce, or restrict any mandatory statutory rights that may apply to you.
4.2 Standard 14-Day Withdrawal Right for Distance Contracts
If mandatory law gives you a right to withdraw from a contract concluded online or otherwise at a distance, you may withdraw within 14 days without giving a reason, unless an exception applies under mandatory law.
The withdrawal period begins on the date the contract is concluded, unless mandatory law provides otherwise for the specific product or service.
Where a statutory withdrawal right applies, you do not need to meet the voluntary refund conditions in Section 5 in order to exercise that statutory withdrawal right.
4.3 How to Exercise Statutory Withdrawal
To exercise a statutory withdrawal right, you must send us a clear statement of your decision to withdraw before the applicable withdrawal period expires.
You can do this by email at support@journeytograndmaster.com. You may use the sample withdrawal statement in Section 4.7, but you do not have to use that exact wording.
If a withdrawal or cancellation function is made available on the website for the relevant product or service, you may also use that function.
4.4 Effects of Valid Statutory Withdrawal
If you validly exercise a statutory withdrawal right, we will reimburse payments due for the withdrawn contract without undue delay and within the time required by applicable law.
We may use the same payment method used for the original transaction unless you expressly agree otherwise.
If access to the withdrawn product or service has already been granted, we may disable that access after a valid withdrawal.
If you created personal notes while using the course, your personal notes remain yours. However, course content, videos, downloads, community access, live-call access, recordings, PGN files, and other Journey to Grandmaster materials remain protected by the intellectual property rules in these Terms.
4.5 Digital Content / Immediate Access
For digital content supplied after purchase, including digital course content or downloadable digital materials, your statutory withdrawal right may expire once supply begins only if and to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Where applicable law requires your separate express consent to immediate supply and your acknowledgment that you lose the statutory withdrawal right once supply begins, the statutory withdrawal right does not expire early unless those legal requirements are met.
Where mandatory law does not allow the withdrawal right to be excluded or shortened, your statutory rights remain unaffected.
4.6 Digital Services / Immediate Performance
Some Journey to Grandmaster offers include digital services, including Academy live coaching, community access, support, live calls, and similar service-based features.
For digital services, including Academy live coaching, community access, support, and similar service-based offers, your statutory withdrawal right and any compensation owed for services already provided are governed by applicable mandatory law.
If you request that we begin providing a digital service before the end of the statutory withdrawal period, and if applicable law permits it, you may be required to pay for the value of the service already provided up to the time of withdrawal.
Where a statutory withdrawal right cannot be excluded or shortened, the Academy non-refund policy in Section 3.4 applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory law.
4.7 Sample Withdrawal Statement
If you want to withdraw from a contract, you may email support@journeytograndmaster.com with a clear statement such as:
I hereby withdraw from my contract for the purchase of the product or service stated in this email.
To help us process your request, please include the product or service name, order date, full name, email address used for purchase, and the date of your message.
5. Voluntary Refund Policy & Course Guarantees
5.1 Voluntary 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee for Selected Paid Courses
In addition to any mandatory statutory rights, we offer a voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee for the following paid courses and programs, subject to the specific rules in this Section 5:
- 1000 ELO Complete Blueprint
- From 1000 to 1500 ELO Complete Blueprint
- Opening Mastery (White Repertoire only, Black Repertoire only, or the complete course), subject to the additional live-call requirement in Section 5.2
- Calculation Course
- Endgame Mastery
This voluntary guarantee is designed for customers who actually try the course and decide it is not the right fit. It is separate from, and does not replace or limit, any mandatory statutory withdrawal, cancellation, refund, or consumer rights you may have under applicable law.
The voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee applies only to the relevant one-time course purchase. It does not apply to Academy subscription charges, PGN file add-ons, or any other product or service unless the relevant offer clearly states otherwise in writing.
To request a refund under this voluntary guarantee, email support@journeytograndmaster.com within 14 days of purchase.
Refund requests sent after the 14-day period are not eligible under this voluntary guarantee. The 14-day period starts on the purchase date.
This voluntary guarantee is separate from, and does not replace or limit, any mandatory statutory withdrawal or consumer rights you may have.
5.2 Opening Mastery - Additional Requirement for Voluntary Refund Eligibility
Opening Mastery includes a voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee only if the refund conditions in this Section 5.2 are met. These conditions apply equally whether you purchased the White Repertoire only, the Black Repertoire only, or the complete course.
This voluntary guarantee matches the guarantee explained on the Opening Mastery sales page: join at least one live call, work through the first modules, and put the ideas into your own games. If Opening Mastery is not right for you after actually trying it, email us within 14 days and we will refund the Opening Mastery course payment you made.
To qualify for a refund of Opening Mastery under the voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee, you must complete all of the following:
- Email support@journeytograndmaster.com within 14 days of your Opening Mastery purchase date.
- Work through the first modules of the purchased repertoire.
- Attend at least one live group lesson or live call made available as part of the Opening Mastery offer during your first 14 days after purchase.
- Use the email address connected to your purchase or provide enough purchase information for us to identify the order.
- Not have violated these Terms, including the rules against account sharing, unauthorized redistribution, copying, resale, chargeback abuse, abusive behavior toward our team or community, or other abuse of access.
If at least one live group lesson or live call connected to the Opening Mastery offer is made available to you during your first 14 days and you do not attend any of them, you are not eligible for a refund under the voluntary Opening Mastery money-back guarantee.
If no live group lesson or live call connected to the Opening Mastery offer is made available to you during your first 14 days after purchase, the live-attendance requirement does not apply.
The Opening Mastery voluntary refund guarantee applies only to the Opening Mastery one-time purchase price actually paid, whether for a single side or the complete course. It does not apply to Academy subscription charges, PGN file add-ons, or other separate purchases unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
If a refund is granted, your access to Opening Mastery and related bonuses may be removed. Your own personal notes remain yours, but you may not keep, copy, redistribute, resell, share, upload, or otherwise use Journey to Grandmaster course materials after your access has been removed.
This Section 5.2 does not limit any mandatory statutory withdrawal, cancellation, refund, or consumer rights that may apply under Section 4.
5.3 Calculation Course - 30-Day Win Your Money Back Challenge
In addition to the voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee in Section 5.1, the Calculation Course may include a separate 30-Day Win Your Money Back Challenge if stated on the relevant sales or checkout page.
Eligible customers who complete the challenge may earn the full Calculation Course purchase amount back as credit toward their next Journey to Grandmaster training.
Challenge conditions: To qualify, you must complete all of the following within 30 days of purchase:
- Complete at least 1 full level of the Calculation Course. Only the first level you choose counts for challenge completion.
- Solve 150 Lichess puzzles total.
- Solve puzzles on at least 20 separate days.
- Play 15 practical rapid games.
- Post 2 progress updates per week for 4 weeks in the community, for a total of 8 posts.
- Submit one short completion reflection, either written or video.
Challenge reward: If you complete the challenge requirements, you earn your full Calculation Course purchase amount back as credit toward your next Journey to Grandmaster training.
Public testimonial use: Public use of any completion reflection as a testimonial is optional and requires separate permission from you.
Separate from refunds: The challenge reward is separate from, and does not replace, the statutory rights in Section 4 or the voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee in Section 5.1.
5.4 Endgame Mastery - 45-Day Win Your Money Back Challenge
In addition to the voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee in Section 5.1, Endgame Mastery may include a separate 45-Day Win Your Money Back Challenge if stated on the relevant sales or checkout page.
Eligible customers who complete the Challenge may earn the Endgame Mastery purchase amount actually paid back as a single-use credit toward eligible future Journey to Grandmaster training.
Challenge conditions: To qualify, you must complete all of the following substantially within 45 days of the Endgame Mastery purchase date:
- Reach at least 90% course completion in the course platform. Solve-first course exercises form part of the relevant lessons, but no separate exercise-completion percentage or separate exercise evidence is required.
- Complete both the Starting Assessment and the Final Assessment. No minimum score or score improvement is required.
- Solve at least 150 Lichess endgame puzzles and provide reasonable evidence of the work.
- Train on at least 30 separate days. The training days do not need to be consecutive.
- Play at least 20 rapid-or-longer games. The games do not all need to reach an endgame.
- Analyse at least 5 of your own endgames and record one important decision or mistake and one practical lesson from each.
- Post 8 genuine progress updates in the Endgame Mastery community channel.
- Submit an honest written or video testimonial. The testimonial may be positive, mixed, or critical and must reflect your genuine experience.
Submission timing: The Challenge work period ends on Day 45. The normal submission deadline is Day 48. Reasonable late submissions may still be accepted when the work was completed substantially within the original period and the delay or missing evidence is minor and made in good faith.
Verification: We may review course progress, community posts, game links or PGNs, Lichess information, screenshots, assessments, and the testimonial. Exact platform tracking may be imperfect, so evidence is reviewed reasonably and in good faith. We may ask for clarification when evidence is incomplete.
Challenge reward: If the Challenge is approved, you receive one personal single-use coupon equal to the Endgame Mastery price actually paid. The coupon may be used toward one Academy monthly payment, an Academy annual plan, or another eligible Journey to Grandmaster course sold at its regular price.
The Challenge credit:
- is not cash and cannot be exchanged for cash;
- is non-transferable and cannot be resold;
- has no expiry;
- cannot be used to buy Endgame Mastery again;
- cannot be combined with a launch price, Student Next-Step Price, campaign discount, another coupon, or another credit;
- applies only up to the eligible checkout total, is redeemed in one transaction, and does not retain unused value after redemption.
One active Journey to Grandmaster Challenge is permitted per customer at a time. One reward is available per eligible Endgame Mastery purchase. Course sharing, copied submissions, falsified progress, or deliberate abuse may invalidate the voluntary Challenge reward, subject to any mandatory legal rights.
Public testimonial use: The Challenge submission form contains a separate optional permission request for public use of the testimonial, name, image, voice, or video in Journey to Grandmaster marketing. Challenge approval never depends on the positivity of the testimonial or permission to publish it. Permission may be withdrawn for future use by contacting support@journeytograndmaster.com. When a Challenge testimonial is published, we disclose that it was submitted as a Challenge requirement and that successful Challenge completion offers a training-credit reward.
Separate from refunds: The Challenge reward is separate from, and does not replace, the statutory rights in Section 4 or the voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee in Section 5.1.
5.5 PGN File Add-On
The PGN file add-on, available as White only, Black only, or the complete set, is digital content made available after purchase.
No PGN file add-on, in any form, includes the voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee in Section 5.1.
Any statutory withdrawal rights for the PGN file add-on remain subject to Section 4 and applicable mandatory law.
5.6 Academy Subscription Charges
Academy is optional and can be canceled anytime according to Section 3 in order to stop future renewals.
Except where mandatory law requires otherwise, Academy subscription charges are non-refundable once the paid billing period has started.
No partial, prorated, or unused-time refunds are provided for the current paid billing period after it has started. Access continues until the end of the already-paid billing period.
The voluntary course refund guarantees in this Section 5 do not apply to Academy subscription payments unless a specific Academy offer clearly states otherwise in writing.
Nothing in this Section limits any mandatory statutory withdrawal, cancellation, refund, or consumer rights that may apply to an Academy subscription under applicable law.
5.7 Abuse, Duplicate Refunds, and Account Violations
We reserve the right to deny a voluntary refund request if there is evidence of abuse, fraud, account sharing, unauthorized copying, redistribution, resale, chargeback abuse, abusive behavior toward our team or community, or other violation of these Terms.
A voluntary refund is generally available only once per product per customer, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
We also reserve the right to suspend or terminate access without refund where a customer violates these Terms, including by sharing login details, copying course materials, distributing paid content, harassing other members, or abusing the refund process. This does not limit any mandatory statutory rights that cannot be excluded by law.
6. Free Resources (Email Sign-Up)
6.1 Included Free Resources
We may offer free resources that require an email sign-up, including:
- Opening Kit (free lead magnet for White and Black)
- Other free resources we may offer from time to time
6.2 Email Consent
Free-resource signup forms explain that signup includes resource delivery, reminders, training emails, and occasional product updates. Where applicable law requires consent, we request it at signup.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
7. Intellectual Property
All content belongs to Journey to Grandmaster. Redistribution, resale, copying, recording, reposting, public sharing, private group sharing, or unauthorized use of any course, Academy, community, downloadable, or bonus content is prohibited.
7.1 Account Sharing
Sharing accounts or providing unauthorized third-party access to courses, community spaces, downloads, or Academy may lead to suspension or termination of access without refund, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
7.2 Personal Use Only
Purchases are for personal, individual use only unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.
8. Privacy & Data
Your data is handled according to our Privacy Policy. Payments are processed securely by third-party providers; payment card data is not stored by Journey to Grandmaster.
9. Liability & Disclaimers
